The chemical company in Tricerro uses only certified green electricity with zero emissions as well as natural gas with compensated CO2 emissions and is implementing measures to reduce its estimated annual production of greenhouse gases to zero.
In 2018, Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana signed a “Zero Emission” contract and has been exclusively using electricity from carbon-neutral sources for its plant ever since. At the beginning of 2022, the company has taken another step towards sustainability: it now purchases natural gas with compensated CO2 emissions only. Both the supply of electricity from CO2-neutral sources and of natural gas with compensated CO2 emissions are guaranteed by contractual obligations and by a specific certification in accordance with the ISO 14064 standard.
In addition to the aforementioned measures, Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana regularly reviews its processes and tries to optimise and thus reduce its consumption of natural resources. For instance, the insulation of the company’s equipment and lines is improved on a regular basis – both in terms of quantity of insulated equipment and in quality of insulating materials. A photovoltaic system on the roofs of the plant with a nominal power of 100 kW generates green electricity; to increase the amount of harvested solar energy, additional solar panels will be installed in the near future. Besides, the chemical company is going to replace an old thermal power plant on its premises in the course of the year; the new plant will be both more powerful and “greener” than the old one. Thus, Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana is implementing more and more measures towards one important goal: reducing its environmental footprint.
